Description

Plastic pollution is present in rivers, seas and oceans throughout the world. This event explores the nature of this crisis and what we can do about it.

The current holder of the Papplewick WET Scholarship, Tom Stanton, will outline his research which has discovered microplastic particles at the source of the River Trent. Our keynote speaker is Julian Kirby, Lead Plastics Pollution Campaigner with Friends of the Earth. Julian will talk about the many ways in which waterborne plastics can be harmful, and how FoE uses research in its campaign to change our attitudes and behaviours - as individuals and as societies.

The lecture will begin at 6.30pm, with a drinks reception from 6pm beforehand in the Angear Visitor Centre adjacent to the lecture theatre.

The venue is 2 mins walk from the tram stop at Lakeside, behind the Archaeological Museum (building 50 on the campus map here). There is limited car parking available in the Highfield Park Visitor Parking opposite the venue. Access to the venue through the Gallery Cafe.
